About Me.

Kimberley is a contemporary British artist, born and raised in Southampton, Hampshire, who owns de Garis Designs Art Gallery in Botley. She paints in a unique style that combines vibrant colours, bold textures, and creative patterns to convey her connections with nature. Kimberley specialises in large-format canvases and is committed to providing each client with a professional and personalised experience.

Kimberley began her artistic journey at a young age, mixing paints in her nan’s silver teapot and splashing paint on paper in her spare time as a child. In her teenage years, she spent a lot of time creating art in journals and exploring different media. After her studies at secondary school, she went on to Art school and obtained her A Levels. Kimberley learnt life drawing skills, colour mixing, fashion, textiles, graphics, art history, fine art, printmaking and photography. Kimberley then chose the medium of photography and graduated from Arts University Bournemouth in 2007 with a BAhons in Commercial Photography.

Kimberley worked as a photography assistant for fashion photographer Rankin in London. After this, she moved to Winchester and worked as a portrait photographer, eventually rising to a style director role with offices in London, Winchester, and Cheshire. After this role, Kimberley set up as a freelance photographer. Now, you will find Kimberley swapping cameras for paintbrushes in her studio.

Kimberley's paintings are inspired by the beauty of the South Coast of England and off islands. Attraction to Cornwall is a significant feature of her work. It is a place of many travel as a teenager, and for her as a te also a place where her family resides. Kimberley now spends much time with her own family as a mum of two, and you will often find her sketching on an island in the Isles of Scilly. The Jurassic Coast, Isle of Wight and Chanel Islands are frequently featured in her work. The constant desire to explore English coastlines is a continuous pool from which she sources many creative ideas.

MOVING ON..
After a very exciting journey and adventure on Botley High Street, I am relocating in early 2025. I have been on the High Street for 18 months, and after much deliberation, I have decided to move to a new studio and workspace in Curdridge.
As many will know, I grew up in Botley as a child, so bringing some creativity to the high street was a pleasure. I am leaving with sadness and excitement about the new opportunities ahead.
My new workspace is going to blow your socks off. I have a new workshop, a barn meeting room, and a two-floor showroom. This will allow my art collections to expand and develop. So watch out—new year, new painting collection and one messy artist brewing. The only change to our practice is that you must call before coming, so we offer appointments only from our new location from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. We will still offer home visits to measure up and work with you on your commission requests.

We are also working on a new online shop where you can buy all your favourite stationery and art.

We look forward to your support as we move to our new location. Please follow us on social media or add yourself to our mailing list so you can keep up with what we are doing.
